Large Heart Trivet
This unique heart trivet is one of a kind. Hand forged and hand filed. Made out of 1018 mild steel and is based off of an 18th century example. After adding some of my own color to it and giving it a dash of contemporary style, it is complete.
This trivet would be perfect for your next camping trip or you can use it traditionally as they would have in the 18th century, over your open fireplace. Trivets were made to have coals underneath to provide ease, better conduction and to evenly spread heat whilst using a skillet/cooking equipment. This piece is perfect for a range of pan sizes (8"+ skillets) and is about 2' long.
Some more intricate trivets have handles, so you could always accessorize it later. The handle I've created is long enough to stay cool to prevent burns/hazardous conditions. The heart is not only decoration, it gives you the opportunity to store the trivet when not in use. The finish I've used is paste wax, like most finishes though, it will diminish after it is burned off.
